After an insured event
Prepare a claim file: pension and life cover
Several institutions may be involved and each applies its own regulations or contract. This checklist establishes neither beneficiaries nor benefits; it helps identify institutions, existing records and facts already determined.
Careful immediate steps
- Address health, safety and support needs first with the appropriate organisations.
- Identify separately any employer, pension fund, OASI/DI, accident insurer, pillar 3a provider or life insurer involved.
- Keep certificates, regulations, nominations and correspondence in their original state; never complete or backdate them after the event.
Facts to preserve
- Employment, affiliation and incapacity dates already established
- Institutions and policy or certificate numbers involved
- Official decisions and dates received
- Notifications already made, contacts and replies
Check in the policy
- Insured event and definition in the regulations or contract
- Beneficiaries and order in the valid document
- Coordination with OASI/DI, accident and other benefits
- Waiting periods, exclusions and stated notification process
Important limitation
This page gives no legal, tax or eligibility advice. The competent institutions decide benefits and may request additional records. Never alter a beneficiary nomination or document after the event.
